As part of my studies, Corinthians 1:26-31 has reminded me of some important facts. God rarely chooses the strong, noble, powerful or influential except when he sets out to humble them (Paul of Tarsus).
Typically he chooses those who do not ask, want or are unsure (Gideon) of the calling. Those who struggle to even speak properly or with authority (Moses). Those who feel unworthy (Peter).
The list is those inspiration figures that the Lord chooses is long and full of such people you would not expect to receive such blessings. This is the real power of God and how he can utterly transform any life on this planet.
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
So, think back to a time when you were not with God, and remember who you were. Ask yourself would you ever seriously go back to that now for anything in this world?
You should realise and give thanks for how God came into your life and completely changed it around for you. It might not have happened overnight but it happened nonetheless didn’t it? Even now, I see after nearly two years, just how vastly improved my life really is.
I’m confident, I’m positive, I’m happy, I don’t suffer from depression or stress, and I have a future which I absolutely know has been laid out for me by God. The requirement to have all of these blessings in my life? Loving God. That’s it. Love God unconditionally and you will be blessed.
Share in the good word and praise his name.
